Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Things that people ask a lot:

1. What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the best chance that you and your family have to get and stay healthy.  It is the number one HEALTH profession in the world today.  Since 1999 there have been more visits to the Chiropractic profession than any other Medical profession.

2. Does it hurt to get adjusted?
No! Tension is gone. If someone is pinching you when they release the pinch you feel better. Of course, so if you are adjusted and we release the pinching of the nerves, you will obviously feel better.

3. What is the cracking sound?
Don’t worry it is not your bones!!! You see there is not one bone in the human body that touches another bone. It would be like not having any oil in the car engine. For the more mobile joints there is synovial fluid in between the bones. In the less mobile joints there is cartilage. When there is a joint that is not in the proper position in the relationship with the adjoining bones then there is automatically a problem with the distribution of the synovial fluid. When a joint moves this fluid move’s hence the sound.

This will by no means ever hurt the bone. In fact the damage to the surrounding tissues can only happen when a misalignment/subluxation exists. In other words Chiropractic helps restore joints to there normal function at the same time taking pressure off of nerve. Wow, sounds good. Try it!

4. Is Chiropractic care safe?
The best judgment of how risky Chiropractic care is to look at malpracticeinsurance. The riskiest professions have the highest malpractic insurance

  • Anastigiologist is better than 150K per a year
  • Obstetrician is 100K plus per a year
  • Pediatrician is 75K plus per a year
  • Surgeons is 50K per a year
  • General Medical practitioner is 25K plus per a year
  • Dr. Wine’s malpractice insurance after 25 years of practice – is $805 per a year

– So you tell me who is safe and who is not. – Ask yourself why.

5. Why do my children need Chiropractic care?
If you have had the chance to browse through the web site you would have read the information explaining that the nerve system controls all function and regeneration of all body tissues.

But in children it also controls development. Until the age of approximately 18-20 years old, children develop all their organs, glands, muscles and all other body tissues. All of that development is 100% controlled by the nerve system. Example: If the nerve that runs to any organ is choked off (subluxation) then that particular organ, gland or tissue can only develop as much as the nerve running to it. So if the vertebrae are misaligned (subluxated) and interfere with 30% of the transmission of the nerve impulse then that particular body part will only develop at 70%. At age 12-20 that is all you got 70% function. What a shame.

Give your family the best chance at perfect health. Nerve interference free Chiropractic.

6. Once you see a chiropractor, do you have to go for the rest of your life?
Only as long as you want to stay healthy. We know that the better we maintain things the longer they will last and the better they will perform for us. Example, you change the oil in your car regularly, you cut the grass before it gets too long, you wash you hair, take care of your clothes, go to the dentist regularly, take care of you nails … but modern medicine has come to make us believe that the human body needs no maintenance. Their answer to you is to wait until it breaks and go to them to fix it. It only makes logical sense that the human body will perform and last better if it is properly maintained. Chiropractic is the #1 Health profession in the world! It is proactive not reactive.

7. What type of education do chiropractors receive?
We spend 4,485 hours in the classroom, compared to medical doctor’s 4,247 hours, by the time we become Doctor’s of Chiropractic (D.C.). We also must complete approximately 900 hours of work in a clinic setting. We also must pass a very intense and demanding National Board Examination and a practical exam and interview conducted by the State Board of Chiropractic Examiners in the state where they are seeking a license. This clearly proves that chiropractors are one of the best trained doctors you can find.

8. Why Chiropractic vs. medical
According to the medical peer-review journals and government health statistic, American medicine frequently causes more harm than good:

  • 2.2 million people had adverse reactions to prescribed medicine
  • In 1995, 20 million unnecessary antibiotics were prescribed for viral infections and in 2003, tens of millions are now reported
  • 7.5 million unnecessary medical and surgical procedures are performed annually
  • 8.9 million people are exposed to unnecessary hospitalization
  • 783,936 iatrogenic (doctor induced) deaths – the leading cause of death and injury in the U.S., in comparison to the 2001 annual heart disease death rate of 699,697 and annual cancer death rate of 553,251

Yes, medical interventions save lives. There is no question that many would die without them. However, according to the Center of Health Program Evaluation study in Australia, more people die because of medical treatment. The lesson is simple: Medicine judiciously applied can benefit individuals and society. However, when medicine becomes a substitute for self-responsibility, and dangerous interventions are used before exhausting safer alternatives, the net effect is negative.

What does this have to do with Chiropractic? This is not gratuitous bashing, it’s merely acknowledging reality. As chiropractors we can assume our rightful role as leaders in the health care revolution and have a public health responsibility. As chiropractors we have the technical skill to deliver a safe, effective health service.

10. Why do I need Chiropractic care when I already have a medical health plan?
Most people assume we can eat or exercise ourselves back to health. Nutrition and exercise help to maintain health. You can do all of the fun things you feel are “healthy” for yourself, but if you have subluxations in your spine, your body is not functioning at its optimum. The most important thing in life is health. The only way to achieve and maintain true health is through regular Chiropractic care. You find a better health plan!

“Even if you exercise strenuously and regularly – work out, run, walk, play tennis or golf – you may not be healthy.”

11. What can I do to help?

1. There are no miracles. Most health problems take a long time to progress to the symptomatic stage. If you want your problem to go away in one visit than go next door to my office where you’ll find the church. You’ll have much better chance for a miracle there.

2. Water: Drink as much as you can. Here’s some reasons why:

  • Body parts range from 60-75% water. Therefore, 60-75% of what you put in the body should be water.
  • The body will keep all of its water in the vital organs at all costs. If these organs need water, it will take that water from non-vital areas of the body and deplete them. The number one place to loose water are the discs between the vertebrae of the spine. The perfect example of a dry or hydrated disc is a sponge (disc). When it is dry it is very brittle and shrinks and therefore allows for limited mobility. A hydrated disc (sponge) is very soft and pliable and allows for maximum mobility. If you want to yourself the best thing you can do is drink water.

3. Do not increase any exercise at this time. There are some stretching exercises you can do when you start your Chiropractic visits. You will find these exercises in the ‘exercise’ section of the web site. Dr. Wine will advise you on more stretching and exercises after your first series of adjustments.

12. Why buy our vitamins and health products?
I have already done all the homework for you. Everything that I offer to you is what I use for my family. I do not mark my prices up. I make a living as a chiropractor not by selling merchandise. The best deal in town for health products is in my office. Most importantly, vitamins, eating a balanced diet, Chiropractic care and exercise are essential for maximum health.
